Marylou Dyann McLeod-Leyse's Obituary
Marylou Dyann McLeod Leyse (nee Matheson), 76, of Tacoma, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2013 following a valiant fight against cancer. She was born August 7, 1936 in Nakusp, British Columbia, Canada to Archie and Mary Matheson. Her sisters Cheryl Jean and Susan Christine joined them over the next decade in Calgary, Alberta.
Following completion of nursing school, she married Jack McLeod in 1957 and moved to Salt Lake City where they raised their three young sons James Michael, Bruce George and John Phillip. They had an active family life on ice, water and snow in Alaska, Utah, and Washington. Dyann also shared an adventurous life with Dr. Robert Leyse after they were married in 1995 until his passing in 2009.
Dyann began a fulfilling nursing career in Salt Lake and went on to be recognized as an exceptional and compassionate nurse and inspirational leader at Overlake Hospital, Bellevue; at the Kidney Dialysis Center, St. Joseph Medical Center, Tacoma; and in the practice of Dr. Estelle Yamaki, Federal Way. Dyann enjoyed an active social life centered around Fircrest Golf and Country Club, and her neighborhood.
Dyann’s greatest joy was the time spent with family in Tacoma; Boise, Idaho; and Canada. Dyann is survived by loving sons Mike (Tesa), Bruce, and John (Liz); sister Susan Matheson (Gary), brother-in-law Ray Martin, grandchildren Michael, Annie, Kelsey, Tatum; nieces Cathy (Robert); Sarah (Martin); Dawn (Greg); nephews Barrett (Vivian); Mathew (Amy); Bruce (Angie); cousin BetteLou (George); and their children. Dyann will be fondly remembered by her extended Erstad family and dear friends in Boise, Idaho. Her parents, sister Cheryl; and husband Bob preceded her in death.
A Memorial reception will be at Fircrest Golf and Country Club Friday, May 31, 2013. Donations may be made to the Idaho Shakespeare Festival, Boise.
