MaryJo Cowart's Obituary
MaryJo Cowart
Mary Josephine Cowart passed away peacefully on June 11, 2025. Born on September 26, 1934, MaryJo lived her entire life in the Tacoma area, reaching her 90th birthday with the same resolve and self-reliance that defined her life.
Predeceased by her husband of 58 years, James, and her son, James Jr., MaryJo is survived by her son and baby dumpling, Donald (Wendy), five grandchildren (Jamie, Katie, Christopher, Grant, and Ross), and three great-grandchildren. Her dog, Doja, a gift from her grandson, brought her daily comfort and steady companionship during her final years.
Whether it was playing cards and assembling jigsaw puzzles, camping at the Cowlitz River, or going on trips and cruises, MaryJo loved spending time with her friends, family, and especially her grandchildren. MaryJo was a sharp and independent woman with a knack for numbers from her years as a bookkeeper and had a quiet way of making those around her feel loved and cared for.
A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, June 27 in the Communion Garden at Mountain View Funeral Home, followed by a reception at Don and Wendy's home. All who knew and loved MaryJo are welcome to attend and share in her remembrance.
