Mary S. Nelson's Obituary
Mary Nelson (Marie) Mary was born August 4, 1927, and passed away on October 16, 2011. She was born in Delph, Alberta, Canada and was the youngest girl in a family of seven brothers and sisters. After graduation from high school in Canada, Mary moved to Vancouver B.C. where she had numerous odd jobs, like working in a peanut butter factory, until she meet her future husband Russell. After several months of weekend dating, Russell asked Mary to marry him and she moved to Washington where they were married on September 12, 1946. Mary became a naturalized citizen and at the age of 33 became a licensed cosmetologist. She worked at her trade for the next 50 years. Besides work and her customers, her life -long joys were sun tanning, sewing, travel, and most of all friends and family. It took an aggressive form of lung cancer to finally stop her from carrying on. Mary was preceded in death by her siblings and her husband of 65years, Russ. She is survived by sons David and Eldon, granddaughter Leslie, grandson's John David (Allison), Jason Russell (Ruth), and great grandson's Cameron, Connor and Callan and great grand-daughter Naomi. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. God be with you. There will not be any services for Mary. She will be put to rest next to Russell and close to many other family members at Mt. View Funeral Home. She was very happy to be given a final gift of coming home from the hospital for a few days to personally say good- by to almost everyone she knew and loved.
