Mary J. Mason's Obituary
Mrs. Mary Jane Mason was born March 9, 1930 in Hazelhurst, Miss., Copiah County, to the father and mother, Mr. Louis and Easter Young. She passed this life December 18, 2015 in Tacoma, WA. She was married to Mr. Roy H. Mason for 63 years. Under this union was born two children whom she loved dearly.
A natural nurturer, Mary worked at American Lake Hospital for twenty years. After retiring, she and her daughter Nancy started an antiques and collectibles business called Perfect Partners. She was an avid collector of fine glassware and furniture. Mary and Nancy participated in glassware shows throughout the Northwest.
Mary was a devout member of Sheridan Street Community Church of God. She served as President, Board Member Trustee, Secretary Treasurer and as an Usher Board Member. Mary also served on the choir and mission committees. She loved to teach Sunday school and dedicated her life to the Lord, Jesus Christ. Mary found joy and humor in all things. She will be greatly missed, but we know, she is in Heaven and we will see her again.
Mary is preceded in death by her Parents; Daughter, Cleopatra; Brothers, Willie, Edell, A.G., Charles, Joe and Robert Young; Sisters, Herdisene Harrington, Rosie Collins, and Lillie Lauderdale.
She leaves behind Husband, Roy H. Mason; Daughter, Nancy Mason; Grandchildren, LaSalle Bell, Angelia Royal, Mary and Damon Monroe; Sisters, Lorraine Jackson, Dorothy Waite and Glories Williams, 7 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service for Mary will be held on Sunday, January 3rd at 1:00 PM in the Aspen Chapel of the Celebration of Life Center at Mountain View Funeral Home and Memorial Park.
Following the service there will be a reception gathering of family and friends in the Celebration of Life Center Willow Room.
