Mary K. Lisosky's Obituary
This spirited matriarch who never met a stranger died March 9, 2006 of complications from congestive heart failure. Mary lived most of her life in and around Albany, NY. She moved to Tacoma two years ago to be close to family members. Her life was defined by what she did for others. Most recently, she delighted in sharing her time and spirit as a volunteer at St. JosephÂ's Medical Center.Mary was a captivating storyteller who was immensely proud of her Irish heritage. The shamrocks on her shillelagh (cane), attest to that fact. She never missed the opportunity to dance or spontaneously break into song. She also enjoyed knitting items for other people, playing cards, and coining offbeat phrases her family called Â"Maryisms.Â"She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Peter Lisosky, brother Dennis J. Stewart ofVirginia Beach, VA, daughter Joanne M. Lisosky and her husband Michael Darcher ofLakewood; daughter Kathleen Leahey-Stasack and her husband Joseph Stasack of Rensselaer, N.Y.; and son Peter J. Lisosky and his wife Mindy of Bellingham. Equally important to her were her five grandchildren, Carey Steingraber and her husband Jeff of Seattle; William Leahey III of Brooklyn, NY, Peter Alexander Leahey of Albany, NY, and Bailey and Patrick Lisosky of Bellingham. The newest and brightest light of her life was her 2-year-old great-grandson, Raymond Steingraber of Seattle.Memorial services celebrating MaryÂ's spirit will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 in Tacoma at St. Joseph Medical CenterÂ's Chapel, and in Castleton, N.Y. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Friday, March 24.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to St. JosephÂ's Medical Center in Tacoma.
