I am so sorry I was unable to attend the services as my illness made it impossible. I felt really sad about not being able to attend. We feel blessed that Rita and Steve were able to attend the services. We felt really close to Mary Jo and Leland all these many years. We enjoyed our visits and the many stories Leland and Mary Jo shared with us. My mother was very close to Mary Jo back in Dallas during her early years. My mother was born the same month as Mary Jo. I will always remember those visits with you and your folks when I was at Ft. Lewis. They were always nice enough to pick me up and take me back to post. We will always remember how wonderful you and your folks were when Rita and the kids moved up there and let them stay until we got situated. We will always remember you all and the way you all made us feel at home, those wonderful barbeques, those wonderful visits and stories. Toward the end, in late November, Mary Jo let us treat her to lunch. Our moments were all good with you and your mom and dad. I'm sure they are with God and He is embracing them both. We have lost a sweetheart!
I first met Mary Jo and Leland several years ago, and was immediately swept up into their lives. When Leland found out I was an Air Force veteran, the Air Force stories began to flow, and what fun we had!
But Mary Jo was a whole Ã¢â‚¬Ëœnother story. She immediately charmed me with her loving, thoughtful, and generous heart. And who could resist her yard-wide smile and her Texas accent?
I am sorry to hear of Mary JoÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s death, but I rejoice, as well, knowing that she is reunited once again with Leland, the love of her life.
My condolences go to her family and friends.

I will always remember Aunt Jo's smile and she was the only one that called me either sissy or LA. Our mothers are precious to us living, but they give us wonderful memories to remember them after they have left us. God Bless you all for the loss of your wonderful mother. I have nothing but fond memories of your mother (my namesake), as well as your dad. Vacations in Colorado, thru Texas and then in Tacoma were wonderful experiences I have never forgotten. I had always wished we had lived closer. I know that they are now with the rest of the family, all together again and can only imagine the talks and the times ahead of them.
