Mary Jean Robbins
Born January 18th 1936 in Tacoma, Washington, passed away August 19th 2009. Survived by son Martin "Marty" (Shani) Robbins, daughters Joan (Kevin) Scudder, Janet Mcqueen, Jean (Joel) Schossow, 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, sister Violet (Stan) Estep, brother John Hughes. She is preceded in death by her husband James Robbins.
Viewing will be Wed. and Thurs, Aug. 26 & 27th at Mountain View Funeral Home. Burial services will be held Friday, August 28th at 1pm Garden Chapel, Mountain View Funeral Home. Tacoma, WA.
Resident of the Month
Mary Jean Robbins, nee Hughes, was born January 18, 1936 in Tacoma, Washington. She is one of seven children. Mary attended Lincoln High School. She was very athletic and enjoyed a variety of sporting acitivities such as softball, soccer, basketball, bowling, golf, and table tennis (She was the school table tennis champ in 7th grade). Mary met James Ray Robbins at a bowling alley. He would give her a ride home sometimes, and eventually they started dating. The two eloped and were married in Couer de' Alene, Idaho on January 13, 1965. She worked in the office of Peterson Fryer Farms until her children were born, then she stayed at home to raise them. After the children were grown Mary worked for 15 years as a real estate agent. Mary and James were married for 47 years and had four children. Sadly, James passed away in 2003. All of her children reside in Tacoma. She is blessed with thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Her -Å"baby- however, is her little Yorkie, Brutus.
