Mary Belle Horton's Obituary
Mary Horton, 80, passed away on March 22, 2014 with her children by her side. She was born on March 17, 1934 in Thief River Falls, MN to Leon and Ruby Johnson. In July of 1941, Mary moved to Washington with her family at the age of 7. She lived most of her life in Tacoma, but also lived in Osaka Japan, Fort Campbell KY, Fort Ord CA, Worms and Bad Kreuznach Germany and Maui and The Big Island HI.
At times during her life, Mary worked as a waitress, but taking care of her family was her full time career. Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Aunt and Grandmother were her life roles. She and Her husband Les provided care for her mother and father when they needed more help in their twilight years.
Mary had a great sense of humor, loved to read, was an avid bowler, collected dolls and Elvis memorabilia, she could answer any question concerning tabloid trivia and enjoyed playing cards and games of chance, especially Bingo. Mary was a very generous and caring person and will be dearly missed.
Mary is survived by her daughter Cheryl (Joe) Yancey; sons Edward (Alice) Walker, Greg Walker, and Les Horton Jr.; brother James (Carol) Johnson; 8 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ruby and Leon Johnson, her husband Les, her sister JoAnn Fredricks and grandson Jonathon Walker
Memorial services will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home, in the Garden Chapel 11:00 AM, Friday, April 18
