Mary Hixon's Obituary
Mary Jane Hixon, 88, died with family nearby on August 13th, 2019. Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life on August 24th at Tacoma Eagles (7037 S. Pine St.) from 2-6pm.
Mary was born September 12th, 1930 to Glen and Laura Lawrence in Tacoma, WA and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1950.
On August 23, 1949 she married Donald Ed Hixon Sr. and they had four children. They are Donald Jr. (Donna), Kim (Jackie), Chris (Gordon), and Matt (Greta Jan). Mary is survived by her siblings, Mildred, Harold, Raymond and Everett, as well as many nephews and nieces and great nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her husband Donald Sr., parents Laura and Glen, and sisters Frances, Ethel and Glenda.
Mary spent much of her life raising her children and babysitting neighbor children as well as nieces and nephews. She and Don enjoyed bowling, dancing, playing cards, dominoes, travel and RV camping. Mary always had a huge smile when she held one of her babies, especially grandchildren (6) and great grandchildren (11). They are Jeremiah and Kimberly Hixon (Eleanor, Clara), Patrick and Jessica Marquardt (Sloane, Jack), Joshua and Sarah White (Blake, Jonathan, Tyler), John David and Sarah Sandifer (Isaiah, Luke), Jerrid Hixon and Brittany Kauffman (Alexia , Charlotte), Andrew Hixon and Nikki Foltz.
Mary also spent many years volunteering at schools while her children were young and later at Tacoma Eagles where she met Darrell Borden in 2006. They continued serving there together and enjoyed many years sharing life and family together.
Mary was baptized on March 31, 2013 at Bethesda Baptist Church where she and Darrell attended and worship together. She loved to sing the hymns and was looking forward to going home to heaven.
