Dear John and your family,
So very sorry to hear of Mary's passing. I had not known of it until speaking with Joan Brown before I left for Christmas in California. I remember some fun block parties when we were all living in "the bricks" on McChord.
I passed the information on to Mae Kellim when she came to my sister's place for the holiday. Mary was one of the most gregarious and witty ladies I was fortunate to know. She will be remembered with a story and a smile. Again, sincerest sympathies.

Right now our hearts ache for you, John, as well as for Greg, Jim, Laura and Bill. My personal memories of Mary are many and precious as she had great influence on my life. In addition, as a couple, the two of you and have always meant so much to our family. The first time I met Mary was during the holidays in 1976 when I flew out to Tacoma to meet Laura's parents. Laura and I had been dating for about a year. It was New Year's Eve, and we went to a party at the officer's club. After a couple of hours and a couple of drinks, Mary turned to me and said, "So . . . Are you going to marry my daughter?"
Subtlety was not her forte.
It was my great privilege to call Mary "Mom" for more than twenty years. I couldn't have asked for a better Mother-in-law. She was caring, she was fun, and she spoke the truth. We will all miss her.##imported-begin##John Robison##imported-end##
