Mary Magalene Frith's Obituary
Mary Magalene Frith was born to the late Harry and Memphis Frith on December 24th 1936 in Muskogee Oklahoma. Mary graduated from Manuel High School in 1954. Mary was part of a singing group called the “Lemon Drops” where she enjoyed singing gospel and R&B music. Mary was a member of the Jerusalem Baptist Church in Muskogee, where she enjoyed serving the lord, she and her 4 siblings moved to the Bay Area between 1953 and 1961.
In 1962, Mary gave birth to her only son Jeffery in San Francisco general hospital on her 26th birthday December 24th. Mary and Jeffery shared their birthdays for 62 years whether together or on the phone, Mary always made sure they celebrated their day. Mary became a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Union City CA in 1995, where she loved serving the lord and being involved in many of the church’s programs.
Mary worked for the state of California’s department of Fair Employment and Housing as a “consultant” where she retired after 30+ years of service in 2005. She developed close friendships from her job that she cherished deeply. In her years working for the State of California, her job took her from Oakland to Los Angeles and back to Oakland. In 2014, she was diagnosed with dementia and decided to move to Washington state to be with her son and family.
Mary was a strong dignified and caring woman who always stood on business, and she loved her family very much. Mary went home to be with the lord on June 24th 2025 and leaves behind to cherish her memories, her son Jeffery Flenoy and Daughter in-law (Daina) Hicks. Her Grandchildren Jazmine Hawkins, Paris Flenoy, Mercedes Flenoy, Her Great Grandchildren Alanna Hawkins, Her Nephews Christopher Lynn McIntosh (Wife) Patrisha Lynn, Herman Williams, Her Great Nephews Christoper Lynn Jr, Isaiah Lynn – McIntosh, Stephon Lynn, Jordon Frith, Bradly Frith, Her Nieces Cynthia Caroll, Chandra Frith, Tiffani Underwood, Christi Palmore, Her Great Nieces Ciera Frith, Desteny Frith. Mary was preceded by her siblings Ann Frith, Marie Frith, Lavern Frith, Harriet Frith, Niece Katherine Frith-Jordon.
