Mary "Florence" Hanson's Obituary
Mary “Florence” C. Hanson, 88, passed away on November 4, 2019 with her family by her side. She was born in Chicago, IL on May 7, 1931, the daughter of Daniel and Mary (Henry) Fortune.
Mary was a loving, accepting, and caring mother. A ‘true’ mom in every sense of the word. As the matriarch of the family, she was the glue that held everyone together. She met her husband, Austin, in Oregon while working at her family's car hop. Often encouraged to be the one to bring him his strawberry milkshake by her own mother. The two were quickly inseparable and were married on March 31, 1951. Together they had a total of 7 children and were married for over 62 years when Austin passed away in 2013. Mary loved to spend time with her family and enjoyed being around babies the most, especially when they were crying. When she was not taking care of her family, Mary enjoyed shopping, and was always on the lookout for a good deal with her coupons. Mary was an amazing woman and will be missed and forever loved by all who knew her.
She is survived by 6 children, Theresa “Terry” Carlson (Jonathan), Christopher Hanson (Catherine), Wade Hanson (Darla), Lawrence Hanson (Rhory), Gail Crandall, and Valerie Reed; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her beloved husband, Austin; son, Jeffery Hanson; and her six brothers.
A celebration of life will be held at 3:30pm on December 7 at Tower Lanes, 6323 6th Ave., Tacoma.
Please honor the life and memory of Mary by leaving cherished memories, messages, and photos for her family on the guestbook page.
