Mary Ann Eckstein's Obituary
Mary A. Eckstein, 80, died on December 1, 2019, at her home with her family by her side. She was born in Tacoma, WA on September 8, 1939, the daughter of Clarence and Olga (Nelson) Sather.
Mary grew up in Tacoma and graduated from Lincoln High School. She married the love of her life, Ronald Eckstein in 1958, and together they raised two children. Mary was a supportive, optimistic, and positive woman, who was the true matriarch of her family. She was the proudest of her family, taking care of her husband, children, and grandchildren. Mary used her strong will and positive attitude to help her through her chemo therapy at the age of 76 and became a breast cancer survivor. When she was not spending time with her grandchildren, Mary enjoyed her flower garden, cooking, and was a collector of many things, including Precious Moments and Souvenir Spoons.
Mary is survived by her children, Tom (Kari) Eckstein, and Cheryl (Bill) Roach; six grandchildren, Heather, Jeremy, Melissa, Jackie, Becky, and Billy; three great grandchildren, Austin, Ian, and Orion; sister, May Kastner; and nephew Marty. In addition to her parents, Mary is predeceased by her granddaughter, Mandi.
A memorial service will be celebrated at 3pm on December 21, 2019, at the Faith Community Church, 1014 152nd St., Tacoma, WA.
Please honor the life and memory of Mary Ann by leaving cherished memories, messages, and photos for her family on the guestbook page.
