Marvis Sailor Perry's Obituary
Marvis Sailor Perry 2/15/1920 - 11/8/2010 Passed away peacefully from a stroke on Monday afternoon with her family by her side. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was selflessly devoted to their lives. They include her son and caregiver Paul (Irene) Perry and her dear daughter Shirley (Al) Santoro. Her two grandchildren from Shirley are Karen (Jay)ELangley and Stephanie (Marc) Good, all from San Diego, California. The 5 great-grandsons to GeGe (as they called her) are David, Eric and Joseph, plus Garrett and Nathan. Marvis Sailor was born Feb. 15th, 1920 in Nebraska. At the age of 4 her mom moved all 6 children to Puyallup, Washington. She was the last living member of her siblings, who were Doris, Kenny, Vivian, Dale, Thayne, and herself. She married Vernon Paul Perry (passed in 1966) in October 1943. They lived on McChord Air Force Base from 1945 to 1959. Then they were stationed in Japan for 4 years, plus 1 year in Rhode Island before retiring in Tacoma, Washington. Her greatest joy was raising her family. She worked for and retired from her civil service job at Camp Murray here in Tacoma. Gardening was her passion, as well as playing bridge for 30 years with the same group of women friends. She was a lover of nature and favored our cat (whom she named "Mr. Morris"), who added many hours of pleasure to her later life. Memorial service for Marvis Sailor Perry will be held on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010 at 11am, Old St. Peter's Church, 2910 N. Star Street, Tacoma, WA (in Old Town).
