Martha "Marty" Jean Ray's Obituary
Martha “Marty” Ray was born on May 5, 1953, in Longview, Washington, and passed away on March 27, 2026, at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington. She was the fourth of seven children born to Kenneth and Eleanor Thomas.
Marty was a strong, spirited woman who embraced life with curiosity, courage, and humor. She was always willing to explore new places and seek out new experiences, never shying away from a challenge. Travel brought her great joy—especially journeys to the mountains and the beach, spontaneous road trips to new states, and adventures simply for the sake of discovery.
She had a special love for camping, particularly at Dosewallips State Park, where the passing elk were a cherished highlight. Marty also enjoyed cruising and treasured her trip to Alaska. All of these adventures were made richer by sharing them with her beloved husband, Warren, who was her partner in travel and in life.
Marty was known for her remarkable strength in the face of adversity of all kinds. Hardworking and determined, she always gave her best effort and lived by her own values, never worrying about what others thought. She met life head-on, with resilience and grace.
She had a great sense of humor and a warm heart, especially when it came to the things she loved most. Marty adored her kitties, Snowball and Jeffrey, who brought her comfort and companionship. Her laughter, independence, and steadfast spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Marty leaves behind a legacy of courage, adventure, and the love of her life, Warren Ray. Her life serves as a reminder to live fully, face challenges boldly, and always keep exploring.
