Marshall B. Skidmore's Obituary
Marshall B. Skidmore passed away peacefully July 23rd after a short and unsuccessful battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born in Tacoma to Clara B. and Charles Skidmore July 1, 1924.He volunteered and joined the Navy at age 17 where he served in the Pacific for almost 3 years in WWII. Upon his return to Tacoma he worked in the County Clerk,'s Office for many years then went into outdoor advertising. Next he worked at the Tacoma Daily Index eventually becoming Owner/Publisher and continued a successful business there for 37 years. He enjoyed 10 years of retirement.,"Skid," belonged to the Lakewood Racquet Club and enjoyed playing tennis indoors and out for many years. He took pride in the many WWII model ships and planes he had built. His library on WWII history was vast.He was predeceased by his mother and father. Survivors include his wife, Frances, of 48 years, children Marsha Perry (Jim) and son Rev. Robert Skidmore (Vonna) and grandchildren Michael, Emily and Andrew Skidmore, Clara, Samuel and Hannah Perry, and brother Judge Robert Skidmore (Helen).He will always be remembered as a loving and caring husband, a devoted father and a faithful friend to many. He will be greatly missed.
