Marolyn J Heidecker's Obituary
our beloved Mother and Grandmother, Marolyn J. Heidecker, was called home by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We are so grateful that she is at peace in the arms of the Lord and reunited with Dad and all of our wonderful family that pre-deceased her. Marolyn was born January 20, 1929 in the little town of Westby, Montana, to Alvin and Hazel Stageberg. As a young girl, her family moved to Port Orchard, Washington, where she graduated from South Kitsap High School. She soon met a dapper young man and trumpet player named William Heidecker (Bill), who became the love of her life. They were married in Tacoma in 1955 and enjoyed 44 years of marriage until Bill’s passing in 1999. She worked for many years at J.C. Penney in their administrative offices. Marolyn was a kind and gentle spirit who valued her faith and family above all. She loved family camping outings and was always so excited for any Stageberg family event where she could be relied on for her lefse, lutefisk, and, of course, her awesome pies. But the real center of Marolyn’s life was her faith in Jesus which she professed through years of involvement at the Life Center Assembly of God Church where she and Bill became life-long friends with so many wonderful people and including the Rev. Dr. Fulton Buntain and his wife, Lorraine. She served on many women’s groups, sang in the Singing Christmas Tree while Bill performed in the orchestra, and later she and Bill would become directors of the senior ministries at the church know as the Golden Heirs. Marolyn and Bill would perform for various convalescent care facilities in the area with Marolyn playing her keyboard and accordion and Bill on trumpet. Marolyn is survived by her sister, Bonnie, brothers, Dean (Edith), Dennis (Judy) and her late brother David (Rosemarie). She is also survived by her two children, Greg (Linda) and Deanne (Kim), as well as her grandchildren Ryan, Amber, Cramer, Madison, Maren, and Jamie and several great grandchildren. The family would like to specifically thank the staff at Harbor Place in Gig Harbor where Marolyn so enjoyed the last five years of her life. A private family graveside service will be held at Mountain View Memorial Park in Lakewood, Washington on Thursday, October 26 at 1:30 pm. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, October 27 at 11:00 am at Life Center , 1717 S Union Avenue in Tacoma.
