Marlene was my oldest sister and dearly loved she was my earthly sister, my sister in Christ, sister-mom and my best friend. She played a large part in helping me to raise me and I am so blessed that we had 70 years together. I have a lot of good memories that will last a lifetime. I love and miss you. Your sister Sherry
Marlene was more like family to me,my sister Leolia,and brother Ron than a friend. She will always be remembered by us for her warm,smile,and friendly outgoing personality.She was truly committed to everthing she did,and everyone she loved.My family will cherish the warm memories we have of her forever.Our prayers and thoughts of comfort go out to her family. I am so grateful for the opportunity to have known and love Marlene Holmes as my aunt. Although I was not her niece biologically, I can not describe any other way I would have appreciated our relationship. Aunt Marlene was very kind, caring, and thoughtful. It was never a surprise to receive a card from her in the mail for my birthday or to help celebrate something special happening in my life. I will never forget the opportunity I had to visit with Aunt Marlene at her home. I was made to feel welcomed and loved. I appreciated the warmth of being in her presence. I still cherish the painted rocks she shared with me from so many years ago. I will cherish these memories. Special people who love unconditionally are so hard to come by. Aunt Marlene Holmes will be missed.

I WOULD LIKE TO SEND MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO THE FAMILY. I HAVE KNOWN MARLENE FOR A LONG TIME. WE LIVED NEXT DOOR IN WASHINGTON, PA. I WAS VERY CLOSE TO THE FAMILY BACK THEN. I HAVEN'T SEEN MARLENE FOR YEARS BUT WHEN MY MOTHER PASSED SHE SENT ME A BEAUTIFUL CARD TO LET ME KNOW EVERYTHING WOULD BE OKAY AND BETWEEN HER AND DONNA I WAS ABLE TO DEAL WITH MY LOSS A LITTLE BETTER.
I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER HER FOR TREATING ME AND MY FAMILY SO VERY NICE. I WILL NEVER FORGET HER AND I WISH THE FAMILY THE VERY BEST.
SHE WAS AN INCREDIBLE LADY AND WILL FOREVER BE MISSED.
Aunt Marlene was my mom oldest sister, She was a very kind and caring aunt. Just recently my mom got sick and was admitted to the hospital. Aunt Marlene was the first to call to check up on her. I will forever be grateful for her calling and praying for her recovery. My oldest son Brian went up for a visit at an early age and came back home and shared how his Aunt And Uncle Holmes spent time with him and the places they visit.
I know god needs her at the time so he called her home. No more suffering, no more pain, no more problems. Rest heavenly now and know you will forever be in hour hearts.

Marlene was my oldest sister and like a second mother. I always felt that I could share the most intimate details of my life with her. I am missing her so much. She was compassionate and caring and always there to give me advice and support, I called her everyday, sometimes three or four times each day, It is so hard to believe that she is no longer here. We grew up in a small town--Washington, Pa, We did not have many activities but Marlene loved to skate, shop and do hair. As a teen she worked at a clothing store named Betty Gays and she really enjoyed that job because she could buy pretty clothes.She always worked. I also remember her working at Wards Electric Company on Walnut Street in Washington, Pa. and Carl's Dairy Bar.
My son Brent and I love her so much and we will never forget her beautiful smile, Rest in peace Marlene. You are gone from this earth but we will never forget you.
I didn't meet Aunt Marlene until I was an adult but she still managed to have an impact on my life. She came to visit her sister, Donna, in Southern California. From the moment she met me, she embraced (literally and figuratively). I'll never forget her sharing stories about how happy she was to see me (and young black woman) being able to have so many opportunities because she didn't have the same ones herself. She didn't sound bitter about it, but instead she was excited for me (and those black women my age). It made me appreciate the struggle and sacrifice of her generation in order to make it easier for mine.
Marlene is my oldest sister and my best friend. I'm missing her but I have my memories that I'll cherish of the fun times we shared growing up in Washington, Pa.. We made performing our household chores fun by singing songs from "The Hit Parade" song book. We went skating, walked to school and attended church together, enjoyed picnics and other fun activities. As adults Mar and I talked daily, vacationed together seeing the United States and visited frequently. I love her and she has left her footprints on my heart.
