Mark Wesley Williams' Obituary
Mark was born in Munich Germany to John and Alice. He lived his entire life in Tacoma. He graduated from Washington High School and worked in various occupations until he began his career of 30 years at Pierce County. He worked in the Assessor-Treasurer’s Office and the Pierce County Council as Assistant to Councilmember Rick Talbert and Marty Campbell. He retired in July of 2021.
Mark’s passion of 30 years was his coaching career at Fife, Lincoln, and Curtis High School. He was inducted into the Washington Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association as Assistant Coach Hall of Fame in 2012. He loved building relationships with all the young men in his career. Many of those men remained in his life until his death. He built strong relationships with his fellow coaches and even the referees. Being Coach Will was what he was most proud of.
Mark and Julie were married on July 30, 1999, and melded two families together. Their love was infinity times infinity. They enjoyed many trips to Mazatlan, Cancun, Cabo, and various other warm places to enjoy the sun and each other.
They also enjoyed entertaining in their yard and Mark especially loved his animals (Max, Romeo, Juliet, Toby, Buddy, Portia, and Blake). Their love and commitment to each other will never end.
Another important segment of his life was his family and his grandchildren. He absolutely loved his four sons (Pete, Matt, Brett, and Tyler), his daughters-in-law (Candice, Jennifer, Nathalie, and Jessica) and his nine grandchildren (Jackson, Chloe, Zack, Jordan, Legend, Conner, Lincoln, Makai, and Lila). He utilized his humor and big smile to motivate them to work harder and be productive and good citizens. He loved his sister Debbie (Jack), and they shared many priceless moments together throughout his lifetime.
He will be remembered for his honest observations, his undying humor, his laugh, and his constant referrals to either music lines or movie quotations. He loved building relationships with children and young people but also enjoyed befriending a stranger. He had friends everywhere.
Mark had a strong faith that carried him through to his last breath. The Mountain View Lutheran Church community has been steadfast in love and support through Mark’s cancer journey. He was so grateful for the church family and their faithful support.
Mark fought hard the past three years to battle cancer. He did so because of his love of life, family, and friends. It has not been easy, but Mark always kept a positive attitude and lived his life despite cancer. Mark has died but lives on in the resurrection, cancer on the other hand died on his death bed.
Mark’s memorial service will be Saturday, March 12th, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at Mountain View Lutheran Church, 3505 122nd Avenue East, Edgewood, WA 98372. In lieu of flowers, Mark’s wishes were to donate to Mountain View Lutheran Church in his name.
1st Timothy 6:12 says, “Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of witnesses.” Mark has fought the good fight and now he is at peace. Thanks be to God.
