Marjory Buffo's Obituary
Marjory Ellen Cousins Buffo, a woman of great faith, moved to a new location on November 6, 2014 in order to accept a position as Director of the “Living Last Supper” with the original cast members. Her son Matthew will assist with the production and Mother Bea Cousins will write the theatrical critique. Marjory will countenance no excuse for not having the lines memorized even though it has been over 2000 years since the original cast performed. There will be no “Could it be me?” or “Is it me?” verbiage. Only the appropriate “Is it I?” will be acceptable.
Marjory began her journey on this planet on May 23, 1937. She was born in Milford, Massachusetts and proudly grew up in a little town called Hopkinton, Massachusetts. Born into a military family, Marjory traveled and lived in diverse locations including Virginia, Japan, California, Alaska and the Tri-Cities of Washington State before moving to Lakewood, Washington where she lived for many years. In addition to husband Gary Buffo whom she married in July 1971, she is survived by daughters Andrea Davis and Deeann Rawls (Scott) as well as son Scott Palmer (Nick Lanese), grandchildren Ashley Palmer, Zachary Palmer, Shane Davis, Dylan Davis (Lauren), Benjamin Rawls and Betsy Rawls and great grandchildren Kholi Davis and Gavin Davis. One of Marjory’s recent comments is “I have been blessed to have married into the most phenomenal family in the world.” These are: Sister Cheryl and Leonard Eiger (Clara & Gabriel), brother Charles & Jean VanCourt (Hannah & Keith), brother Roger & Mari VanCourt (Todd, Greg, & Chris), and sister Vicki White. Other family includes Jim & Judy Gratton and Marjory’s beloved family and friends living in and around Hopkinton. So many unnamed yet none forgotten for their kindness, love and generosity.
During her life, Marjory had a wide variety of vocations and avocations. She was extremely successful selling men’s underwear at Woolworth’s Department Store where her male clientele were highly attentive. She worked for the telephone company, as a bank teller, bookkeeper, make-up artist and fashion advisor. Marjory worked as a fashion model for an agency which included Television Commercials. However, what Marjory enjoyed the most was her avocations in the performing arts. She was an actress in Little Theater and a Director of Theatrical Productions and Talent Shows. Marjory also performed vocally in various choirs. Because of this, Marjory was simultaneously a member of three different churches (Oberlin, Christ Lutheran and St. John Bosco) which facilitated her vocal over-achievement. She is convinced that John Frederick Oberlin, Martin Luther and the Pope would all approve of her concurrent memberships.
A memorial service will be held at noon on November 13, 2014 at Oberlin Church, A reception will follow the service, and graveside services will be held at Mt. View Cemetery right after the reception.
