Marjorie Maxine Johnson's Obituary
Marjorie Maxine (Keck) Johnson
“Heaven’s New Angel”
Marjorie passed away peacefully, at her home, the morning of May 25, 2013, with her daughters at her bedside. She was born April 18, 1924, to Will and Florence Keck, in Spokane, Washington, and soon after moved to Tacoma. She attended Lincoln High School, worked at the Tacoma Shipyards during WWII, the Riviera Theatre in 1941 and worked at Bank of Washington in the 1970’s.
In 1943, she married the love of her life, Dan Johnson, who served in the Merchant Marines during WWII, and later became a fireman for the City of Tacoma. They had 46 wonderful years together until his death in 1989. They loved traveling and camping in their trailer and made many trips around the country. Also, they made several trips to Hawaii as that was one of their favorite vacation spots.
Marjorie was a woman of faith and always said her life was in “Divine Order”. Cancer may have taken her life, but it did not take her spirit or sense of humor. She loved holiday celebrations and family gatherings. She had a strong love of life, family and friends. Everyone loved her so much and she loved everyone.
Her hobbies included reading, sewing, embroidery, needlepoint, painting, ceramics, assembling miniature Victorian houses and gardening.
Marjorie is survived by her loving daughters, Cheryl Johnson and Cindy Bavre; her five loving grandchildren Tris Kelly (Sheila Frugoli,), Carlene MacLaine (Pat), Teresa Lewis (John), Jeff Zukus (Linda) and Tanya Wicks (Matt); nine loving great-grandchildren, three loving great-great-grandchildren, loving sister-in-laws Marian Keck, Kay Davis (John), Phyllis Heath, many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends.
The family would personally like to thank Diane, Jamie, Ann and everyone at Hospice for the wonderful care all of you gave our mother.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marjorie’s memory to Franciscan Hospice at Franciscan Foundation, P.O. Box 1502, Tacoma, WA. 98401-1502 or www.foundation.fhshealth.org
