Johnson, Marjorie Ann's Obituary
Marjorie (Marge) Ann Johnson
Marjorie (Marge) Ann Johnson was born at home on June 30, 1929, to Frederick & Julia Johnson and was one of six children. After graduating from Roy High School, she worked as a laborer saving enough to attend Knapps Business College. While attending Knapps she ended up getting hired by an insurance company and that led to her insurance career decision. Marge took night classes while working and gained Certifications and designations that allowed her to advance as an Insurance Agent professional. In her 40 years of work, she only worked for 3 different insurance companies, retiring June 30, 1994. She then took up golf which became the love of her life.
Marge belonged to two golf clubs: Highlands Ladies and Meadow Park Ladies. Over the next 30 years she became one of the pillars of both clubs volunteering to chair every position available including being the President more than once. She became a great mentor to new and seasoned players alike.
She met her best friend, Patricia Fullerton, while they were in college and ended up being roommates for life. They worked hard and purchased an unimproved lot at Cresent Lake in Gig Harbor. They made lots of improvements including building a cabin that the Johnson family enjoyed many gatherings at. After selling the Lake property they ended up in a nice home in the North End of Tacoma and spent almost 50 years at that house. Marge moved to Franke Tobey Jones Memory Care in April of 2024, where Patricia had been since June of 2021. Patricia passed in September of 2025. In February of 2025 Marge fell and broke a hip and had surgery and then returned to Franke Tobey Jones Skilled Nursing where she resided until her passing on December 8, 2025.
Marge leaves behind her sister, Nancy Beyer, plus many nieces and nephews and their children. Marge was preceded in death by her Mother & Father, her stepfather Louis Stangle, her best friend, Patricia Fullerton, her sisters: Katherine Coby, Virginia Schwartz, Doris Adams and her brother Kenneth Johnson.
At Marge’s request there will not be a Funeral Service, but there will be a Celebration of Life for both Marge and Patricia in the months to come. If you would like to be notified when that will be, send an email to Charolette at https://[email protected]
Rest in Peace. Until we meet again.
