Marjorie Jean Gemmell's Obituary
Marjorie (Marge) Jean Gemmell, 93 of Lakewood, passed away April 17, 2023, in Seattle, Washington while surrounded by her family. Marjorie was born in Iowa in 1929, to Otto and Lucia Conca, her parents. Marge was a proud wife and a devoted mother and grandmother. Her granddaughter, Maraya, called her grandma “her partner in crime,” always planning and enjoying adventures with her.
Marge was a homemaker who took pride in keeping her house spotless and taking loving care of her family. Marjorie worked at JC Penney in retail at the Tacoma Mall before retiring.
Marge loved traveling in her motorhome with her late husband, Jack, and granddaughter, exploring the Northwest and beyond. Marge also enjoyed gardening and was an avid reader.
Marge loved to help others. Marge was active at the Lakewood Senior Center and everyone that knew her, knew how special and giving she was.
In her earlier days, Marge was quite the seamstress, making her daughter beautiful dresses for special occasions. Marge enjoyed crocheting and embroidering as well.
Marge and Jack spent a lot of time fishing and camping and enjoying time with their good friends Barb and Wayne.
Marge was an active member of Lakewood Presbyterian Church in Lakewood until she moved to Seattle to be closer to her daughter. She formed strong relationships with her church family and very much enjoyed her time with them.
Marjorie is survived by her daughter Traci and her granddaughter Maraya.
Marjorie is preceded in death by her husband Jack, her parents and her brother Delmar and sister Marva.
