Marjorie Elaine Critchlow's Obituary
Marjorie Elaine Critchlow passed away peacefully on November 9th, 2024 and entered the Eternal Promise of our Heavenly Father. Marge (Robinson) was born on April 21st, 1940 in Tacoma, Washington. She grew up in the Manitou neighborhood and attended Lincoln High School. She married Charles “Lee” Critchlow on December 15th, 1956 and moved to San Jose, California. They returned to live in Tacoma in 1968. Marge enjoyed her family, friends, gardening, and supporting the Seattle Mariners and Seahawks. Her faith in God was the backbone of all she lived for. Her passion was helping others.
In 1995, she helped to develop and became director of a Pierce County non-profit called A Common Voice. ACV’s goal was to advocate for households parenting youth with complex behavioral needs. This program now serves all of Washington State and continues to be presented to other states as a model for beginning their own programs. She also volunteered and worked for other programs with similar values. While she retired as director of ACV in 2011, she continued involvement with these valuable agencies through 2020.
Marge was a very compassionate woman. She will be missed greatly by many. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Lee, a baby daughter, her parents, 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Those who will miss her most include her daughter Cindi Absten (Rick), Brien Critchlow (Marie), 2 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and a host of great friends. Services to celebrate Marge’s life will be held on December 6th, 2024 at Mountain View Cemetery, Lakewood, Washington. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:30 in the Aspen Chapel with a reception to follow. A graveside service will be held for those wishing to attend prior to the Celebration of Life, at 10:30. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to A Common Voice at www.acommonvoice.org
