Already missing my phone visits from Aunt Marilyn, the many stories and history of our family. She could recall so much, and in perfect detail. As well as fun stories, events and character's in our community keeping you laughing and in tears.
Aunt Marilyn delighted in meeting people and giving a listening ear,
concerned always for the welfare of other's and of the broken hearted.
Marilyn was proud of her Finnish roots. Enjoying a good conversation, and even more thrilled if able to speak in Finn, usually over a strong cup of coffee, with a good slice Limpu' ( Limb-poo) bread and Havarti cheese, mostly gifted at Christmas from her cousin, and a good Salmon just caught and brought in for dinner by her brother Gerald Simmons, my father.
That was a good time back than in our small town of Ilwaco.
Deep sea commercial fishing was great, holiday's were fun with community events bringing people together, and people helping one another if needed, a neighbor would be right with you to assist in whatever your need was, and whole families would be attending church together.
Marilyn was a great part of that and from what I had learned through my growing up years, she brought that life style to her Tacoma home community.
We miss you.
In Gods Rest now,
Love, your niece,
Carol Simmons Sheaffer
