Marien Viola Hoffman's Obituary
Marien Viola Hoffman was born on December 13, 1916 to Lawrence and Jessie Lagergren in Ryder, North Dakota and passed away March 25, 2009. She grew up in Williston, ND and attended Carleton College in Norfthfield, Minnesota. Marien was employed as a secretary in the Aeronautical Engineering Department at the University of Minnesota, where she met and married Herbert J. Hoffman in 1938. They moved to Seattle, where Herbert worked as an aeronautical engineer for The Boeing Company. In 1939, they moved to Los Angeles with the aircraft industry and lived there for the next 60 years. Marien was active in her church choir, her family's activities, and her bridge group. She enjoyed classical music her entire life. In 2001, Marien moved to Washington State to be close to family. She will be greatly missed by sons Wynn (Margie) and Vaughn (Connie), grandchildren Carter (Kim), Christopher (Joni), Larry (Leah), and Stacy (Jerry Howard), and six great-grandchildren. Services will be held 2PM, Saturday, April 11, 2009 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church Music Program, 7410 S. 12th, Tacoma, WA 98465, or to Franciscan Hospice, P.O. Box 1502, Tacoma, WA 98401.
