Marie Smith's Obituary
Muriel “Marie” Smith, 90, of Lakewood, Washington, passed peacefully on May 27, 2018 in her home. Marie was born May 10, 1928, in Wenatchee, Washington, and is predeceased by her loving husband, Edward Smith, and brother, Larry Morgan.
Marie spent 20 years as the secretary for the United Methodist Church at Lakewood, where she was a member for more than 50 years. She was a talented oil painter, creating several beautiful works of art. She loved being surrounded by family and friends--her house with the gorgeous yard (that her husband, Ed, meticulously cared for for nearly 40 years) was always the gathering place for holiday get-togethers. Nothing made her happier than seeing her family grow year after year.
Survivors include her three children, Barbara Petersen, Michele Wardell, and Gayla (Brett) Raynor. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Norleen, Marian, Angela, Crystal, Kira and Brant and great-grandchildren, Nicholas, AnnaLeigh, Kaitlyn, Evan, Noah, Alaina, Phoenix, Austin, Jericho, Kodiak, Olivia and Melanie. Additionally, she is survived by numerous very much loved cousins, nephews and friends who Marie considered family.
Marie will be laid to rest at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, WA, alongside Ed. We take comfort in knowing that Marie and Ed are now together always.
In lieu of flowers, it would make Marie happy to know that donations were being made to the American Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer’s Association.
