Marie Emma Abbott's Obituary
Marie Emma (Hand) Abbott was born to Arthur and Fannie Hand on December 17, 1915. She passed away on November 7, 2005, just shy of her 90th birthday. Marie was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Clyde D. Abbott, and her long-time companion, Jim Rivas. Until the last few weeks of her life, Marie was lucky enough to live independently in the same house she had lived in for over 60 years. She was an excellent seamstress and often made clothing for her family. Marie was a true family historian and carefully catalogued numerous photographs and memories that will be remembered by her family for years to come. She would rarely miss watching the Sonics, Mariners and Seahawks on television, even choosing to just listen as her eyesight began to fail her. Marie is survived by one son, Clyde (Marilyn) Abbott, two daughters, Marijean Backman and JoAnne Pellegrini. Eight grandchildren: Traci (John) Heath, Roger Backman, Cindy King, Greg Pellegrini, Russell Backman, Jeffrey (Angela) Pellegrini, Jessica (Tom) Montville, and Nathan Abbott. Marie also had 11 great-grandchildren: Steven, Aaron, Bryson, Joshua, Savannah, Dominic, Brayden, Sabrina, Lily, Nora, and Gavin.Special thanks to Manuel Gutierrez, Holly Price and her son Jacob, and Betty Rivas for being devoted friends and comforting Marie during her last days. The family is also grateful for Becky Trujillo at US Bank and Thurman and Linda Brokenbrough at Lincoln Bowl Restaurant for their extraordinary kindness and support. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2005, in the Mountain View Garden Chapel, with a reception following. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in MarieÂ's name to the Tacoma Rescue Mission or the American Heart Association.
