I met Marie in 1977, shortly after I was hired by the Tacoma School District. Because my first job was at the Central Administration Bldg, we exchanged greetings on the elevator, or in passing through the hallways. Marie had a beautiful smile and it was apparent that she loved life!
As President of our Secretarial / Office Personnel Association, Marie demonstrated her leadership skills, and worked hard for the betterment of all its members!
As I read her obituary, I was happy for Marie that she and her first love--Bob, found each other again. What a beautiful Love Story! May memories of Marie bring solace and peace to her husband, family and friends!##imported-begin##Carmela St. Pierre##imported-end##

So Sorry to hear about Marie so soon after her celebration where she was so vibrant.
I was out of town for several weeks and was unable to go to her memorial
service but all of my love to her and her family.

Memories of Marie stretch back to my childhood, when she and my mother, Donna, worked side by side as Tacoma School District secretaries. The pair become good friends, and Marie soon became a regular part of holiday parties, then family gatherings, and ultimately countless dinners and cocktail hours. As I grew to know Marie, I realized I was in the presence of a truly rare human being, someone with a rare combination of wit, honesty, intelligence, charm and zest for living. We all mourn your loss, Bob, as we mourn our own. But the lives of so many in the Card family were deeply enriched by Marie's presence, and my sadness at her passing cannot be overshadowed by my happiness at having been blessed with her friendship for so many wonderful years.##imported-begin##Skip Card##imported-end##

I am saddened to hear of your loss of Marie. I was contacted by Barbara Sproge who takes the Tribune.
This is a loss for anyone who knew Marie and for me she was my friend from our youth to adulthood.
My thoughts and prayers are with you Bob, your family, and friends.
I will always be grateful for the time we spent at your home for dinner with the Sproges years back. I wasn't able to reach Marie at her work place as I left several messages but knowing how busy her career kept her wasn't able to set up another dinner.
I too lost my best friend, my husband, seven years ago and know the loss you feel. Take care of yourself Bob.
