Maria Passaanante Marretta's Obituary
Maria was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on June 4, 1908, to Anthony and Doratea Passanante. She passed away in Tacoma on Sept. 9, 2010, at the age of 102. Maria married George Marretta on Sept. 14, 1929, and they lived happily together until his death in 1956. Maria enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing and gardening. She was also clever at Canasta, playing into the wee hours of the night up into her late 90s. Maria was preceded in death by her parents, husband George, two brothers, and one sister. She is survived by two brothers, one sister, son Philip Marretta, daughter Josephine Hanson (Gary), three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews in the U.S. and Sicily. Funeral service will be held Tuesday (TODAY), Sept. 14th, 11am in the Garden Chapel at Mountain View Funeral Home. Donations may be made to: Pioneer Place, 11519 24th Ave. E., Tacoma, WA 98445.
