Nancy Aguda's Obituary
Maria Nancy Lagajeno Aguda, lovingly known as Nancy or Neng, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2026, at 11:47 a.m., at the age of 67.
Nancy was born on November 1, 1958, in Olongapo City, Philippines, and was raised in Las Piñas, Metro Manila. She was the beloved daughter of Bien E. Lagajeno and Emelina F. Lagajeno, both of whom preceded her in death.
She pursued her education at Far Eastern University before earning her Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from Philippine Women’s University in Manila, Philippines. Early in her career, Nancy served as Assistant Manager at a plasma center in downtown Seattle, where she brought professionalism and care to her work.
Nancy later dedicated over 30 years of her life to serving others as a Medical Laboratory Scientist at the University of Washington, where she was known for her integrity, precision, and compassion—traits that touched the lives of patients, colleagues, and friends throughout her distinguished career.
Nancy shared 44 years of marriage with her devoted husband, Mel D. Aguda. They were married on February 15, 1982, a date that remains a cherished reminder of their enduring love and partnership. Mel studied at the University of Santo Tomas, and together their love story began years earlier at Ospital ng Maynila in 1979, where they met and became sweethearts.
She was a loving mother to three children: Melanie (Joshua), Melchor Jr., and Melvin (Daisy). She was a proud and devoted grandmother to five grandchildren—Lily, Annie, Hannah, Alyssa, and Nathan—who brought her immense joy and were the light of her life.
Nancy is survived by her six siblings: Cesar (Marissa), Grace (Brian), Sonia (Roy), Arnold (Lorena), Bien Jr. (Alma), and Susan (Rey), with whom she shared lifelong bonds of love, laughter, and family tradition.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her two beloved golden retrievers, Kylo and Maya, who brought her great comfort and companionship.
A woman of deep and abiding faith, Nancy was actively involved with Bukas Loob sa Diyos (BLD), a Catholic charismatic community that shaped her spiritual life. Her faith was the foundation of her life—guiding her actions, strengthening her through trials, and inspiring her service to others.
Nancy had a fondness for the color blue and delighted in life’s simple pleasures, especially sour treats such as mangoes and sampaloc, which always brought a smile to her face. She will be remembered for her kindness, grace, quiet strength, and the way she made everyone around her feel seen, supported, and deeply loved.
Her legacy lives on through her family, her faith community, and all whose lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
“Well done, good and faithful servant. Come, share your master’s joy.” — Matthew 25:21
