Holland, Maria M's Obituary
Maria Holland, a deeply loved and cherished wife, sister, aunt, and trusted friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 28th 2025 at the age of 73 at home with her husband at her side.
Born on February 28th 1952, in Puerto Rico, Maria was adopted by loving parents Timoteo and Basilisa Mercado at 6 months of age and raised in the Bronx, New York where she attended school.
Maria’s served her country in the Active Duty Army as a Tactical Wire Operations Specialist, in the Army Reserve as a Civil Affairs technician, and in the Washington National Guard working on tug boats, achieving the rank of Sergeant which spoke to her strong sense of duty and patriotism. Maria also served her country with dedication and distinction as a federal employee central services lead technician where she was commended receiving a service medal. Maria also volunteered in her community supporting Pierce County search and rescue. She also contributed to the Natures Conservancy Society and Animal Rights.
Maria is survived by her husband Marvin Holland, with whom she shared 45 years of love and cherished memories. “It’s just you and me kid.” Maria will truly be missed. Surviving family members included, Sister Nilda Rivera, Brother Tim Mercado and Brother Raymond Mercado.
Maria’s memories and legacy will continue on through those that knew and loved her.
