Maria Dolores Davis' Obituary
Maria “Dolores Martinez” Davis, 74, died at 4:45 pm, Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015, at her home in Tacoma, WA surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Dolores was born Jan. 13, 1940 in Fort Madison, Iowa the daughter to Frank and Lupe Martinez. She attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from Ft Madison High School in 1957.
Dolores married Ernest Harper, Sr. in 1961 and moved to Tacoma, WA in 1973. Ernest passed away in 1976.
Dolores met Charles Davis in 1984, fell in love and married on September 22, 1990 in Tacoma, WA.
Dolores earliest employment was with the Midwest Wax Paper Company and Iowa State Penitentiary in Ft. Madison, IA. Other employment includes Reliance and GE Insurance Company, Federal Way, WA. For the last twelve years during retirement she worked in a part-time position with Garden Terrace Nursing Home in Federal Way, WA.
Besides her husband Charles Davis, she is survived by one son, Ernest Harper, Jr. of Port Orchard, WA, one daughter, Mrs. Lindsay (Diane) Emile of San Jose, CA., two grandchildren, Danielle & Lubin Emile; five sisters, Mrs Carl (Virginia) Martinez-Hall of Federal Way, WA, Frances Gaucin of Carrollton, TX, Mrs. Eddie (Ronnie) Soto of Peoria, AZ, Mrs. Michael (Cathy) Lozano of Seattle, WA, Mrs. Jeff (Theresa) Howard of Puyallup, WA; one brother David Martinez (wife Linda) of Fort Madison, IA; 11 nieces, 7 nephews, 10 great nieces and 15 great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Ernest Harper, one sister (Cecilia), one brother (James), one niece, one nephew and one great niece.
Friends may visit from 2-8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Mountain View Funeral Home, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Lakewood, WA 98499 where a rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. The memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. in the Garden Chapel on Sunday January 11th, 2015 at Mountain View Funeral Home, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Lakewood, WA 98499. In lieu of flowers any contributions may be left at the Mt. View Funeral Home or sent to Charles Davis, 4308 East “G” Street, Tacoma, WA 98404.
Per Dolores’ wishes a portion of the contributions will be donated to the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance in her name.
