Maria Aleja Davalos' Obituary
Maria Aleja Davalos was born September 30, 1927 in Quito, Ecuador.
She was married with three children, Rod, Maria and Diego. With her husband Alfonso, they emigrated to the U.S. in 1959.
Adapting to a new language and culture they made their home in Los Angeles, California and years later moved to San Diego, California.
Aleja, as she liked to be called, was a registered nurse, a profession that she loved and excelled in. She was respected and yes, even admired, by all who worked with her. She had tenacity, smarts, dedication and a great work ethic.
She was practical, careful, and planned for the future. She took the responsibility of caring for her family very seriously but at the same time loved doing so.
She had seemingly boundless energy and was a doer and one who was always ready to lend a helping hand when needed.
She enjoyed life and was always ready to have fun with family and friends.
She lived in the present, never dwelling on yesterday, forgiving easily and always looking forward to tomorrow. She truly “lived” and made the most of every day.
Everyone who met her enjoyed being around her. She made a
large impact on you even though she came in such a small package.
She had love for her children and grandchildren that was boundless! She saw only the good in everyone and was always quick to forgive. She seemed to live naturally the scriptures that all religions teach.
She had deep faith and quietly lived that faith. In her later years she became involved with her church through the women’s group and really enjoyed being of service in any way she could and having that camaraderie of service with the others in her group.
She, like most, had challenges in her life. But she had this amazing capacity to rise above anything and everything and never let anything get the best of her. She would tell you that she had a great life and in the eyes of her family and friends, she most certainly did. We come together to celebrate a great woman, a great mother, a great friend, a great family member, a one of a kind. She is UNFORGETTABLE, Her light will shine in our hearts always.
