Margold Audrey Hamilton's Obituary
MARGOLD A. HAMILTON
-Å"MARGO-
7-30-14 to 6-11-09
Margo was born in Vancouver, B.C., on July 30th, 1914, to Maitland & Angelina Forbes. She was the second out of five siblings. She has one living sibling, Grace Marchesano, who lives in Fair Oaks, CA. Margo had many memories of growing up, especially in the years of the depression. Her memories were of using candles for Christmas lights as her family was without electricity. One Christmas, her gift consisted of an orange and a penny. When she was approximately 13, she moved with her mother and siblings to San Francisco, CA where she lived briefly, then relocated to Los Angeles, closer to her mother's side of the family. She worked for her Aunt Grace as a cashier in her restaurant in Los Angeles. She met her husband, Bill Hamilton, who was in the Army. They were married on June 5, 1941 at St. Thomas Church and from there moved to Monterey, CA where Bill was stationed. She then relocated to Tacoma, WA to be closer to his family. They raised two sons, Jay and Bill. They resided on North 50th & Frace for many years, until Bill retired and the boys were older and out on their own. Bill and Margo moved to the Tacoma Mall apartments to manage them until Bill passed away on January 12, 1980.
Margo then relocated to Wright Park Senior housing. She stayed very active, babysitting for her grandchildren and their cousins for many years. From there, she relocated to Puyallup to be closer to her oldest son Jay and his wife Joan, as they moved from Tacoma to Puyallup. She lived there until she was 84. She then relocated back to Tacoma Life Center assisted living until 2002. She fell and broke her hip and could no longer live alone. She resided at Heartwood since 2002.
Her memory wasn't as good as it used to be, however she was very happy to have her health and family, sons, Jay, his wife Joan and their two children, Jason and Sarah as well as her youngest son, Bill, his wife Janice and their two children, Megan and Kelsey and her sister, Grace. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially celebrating holidays and birthdays together. Her fondest memory was of her 90th birthday, when her sister, Grace, flew up from California to celebrate her wonderful day.
Margo was loved and cared for by all at Heartwood. The tremendous support and care they provided was incredible.
We all appreciate the love and care that the Heartwood team has given to Margo throughout all these past years. THANK YOU!!
