Margery J Sienko's Obituary
Margery Jean Sienko passed away Sunday Morning, 19 May 2013. She is survived by her sons Anthony, Joseph, step-daughter Patricia, nieces Jan Taylor and Lynn Husted, 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Leon Sienko, in 1987 and daughter Donna on March 18, 2013.
Born in Tacoma January 20, 1922, Jean grew up in Lakewood and graduated from Clover Park School. Jean graduated from Beaver College Pennsylvania, married in 1944, and received her Master Degree in Education at the U of W in 1946. She taught kindergarten, and elementary school music as the family traveled throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Music was the passion of Jean’s life, after her family. She joined The Memorie Singers at Clover Park Technical College as a singer and piano player and eventually became the director. When Clover Park could no longer support the group, Jean took charge and kept it active in the community as it is to this day. Jean was always involved in her community and received numerous awards in thanks for her contributions. She was particularly honored in 2006 upon receiving the RSVP Lifetime Achievement Award “as an individual whose life exemplifies the positive of giving through commitment, leadership and service to the community.” Jean worked, taught, traveled, and made many friends across the country. We will all miss her very much.
