Margaret Jean "Peggy" Reiser's Obituary
Margaret Jean “Peggy” Reiser
Our beloved mother passed away suddenly on June 21, 2015. Peggy was born in Tacoma, Washington to the late Melvin and Edith Fiddes on November 21, 1924. She graduated from Lincoln High School and shortly after went to work at The Old City Hall with her sister. After a few years, she moved onto working at the Public Utilities Building where she began her life. Peggy married, had two daughters, Lisa and Melanie, in 1960 she divorced and a few years later, she met James “Jim” W. Reiser. Within two weeks of their first date, they were married and the family became larger with 3 stepsons; Greg, Tom and Jim. Peggy and Jim loved to spend their time traveling, fishing, clam digging and beach combing where they made lasting friendships along the way. Sadly, in 1993 Peggy lost the love of her life to cancer and was devastated. Being the strong little woman she was, she picked up traveling with her friends, some new, some old. She continued to stay a social butterfly with her retired fire fighter meetings, kits meetings and coffee with friends at the Tacoma Mall.
During the later years of Peggy’s life, her family wanted her closer. Peggy and her younger daughter Melanie started the adventure of house hunting together, once all of Peggy’s boxes were checked, the real adventure started; living together. Peggy got to experience living with a teenager; Carson her youngest grandchild, or “the awkward one” as she called him and enjoyed company of the cats and dogs.
She loved shopping with her granddaughter Marissa, shopping for clothes, antiques…well shopping for anything! She never gave up her crossword puzzles, gardening and buying flowers with her granddaughter Jenny, or having her grandson catching her fish and crab for her to enjoy eating. Peggy loved reminiscing through old photos and tracing family roots with her granddaughter Heidi. Most of all she loved sharing past memories and stories with the family.
She has left us all with broken hearts, but we know we will meet again and that she is being well taken care of by family and friends and her true love, “blue eyes.”
Peggy is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Virginia; infant brother Melvin Jr. and her beloved husband. She leaves behind 2 daughters, Melanie David (George) and Lisa Resop (Rick); 3 stepsons, Greg Reiser (Paula), Tom Reiser and Jim Reiser (Cheri); 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and numerous grand‘fur’ babies.
A celebration of Peggy's life will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 12:00 Noon. In the Aspen Chapel of the Celebration of Life Center at Mountain View Funeral Home with reception to follow in the Willow room.
