Margaret E. Perry-Smith's Obituary
Margaret Estella Perry-Smith
Margaret was born November 13, 1922, in Tacoma to William and Dora Post, and passed away November 27, 2014. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1940 and retired from First Interstate Bank in 1984. As a young, single woman in 1945, her love of the outdoors prompted her to purchase recreational waterfront property in Thurston County. While participating in a ballroom dance club she met Malcolm Perry, and they were married December 7, 1945. The two of them spent many weekends maintaining their beach property, fishing, and boating. They were active members of Bethany United Methodist Church and Tahoma Dance Club. Margaret was also a member of Grapevine Garden Club. Margaret and Malcolm enjoyed traveling including several memorable cruises. After 51 years of marriage, Malcolm passed away in 1997. A number of years later, Margaret and Ralph Smith, a former branch manager and her boss at Pacific National Bank of Washington, were married June 9, 2004, and took off on the first of many cruises together, beginning with Alaska. Ralph shared her love of the Thurston County waterfront where they made their home. Margaret and Ralph were members or Lakeview Church of Christ.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, William and Dora Post, her sister Florence Wesson (Neale) and husband Malcolm Perry. She is survived by her current husband Ralph Smith, son Dennis Perry, daughter Joan (Ron) Ahre, three grandchildren, Jenn (Mike) Canfield, Scott (Charissa) Perry, Alex Perry, and two great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on December 27, 2014 at Lakeview Church of Christ, 1709 112th St S Tacoma, WA 98444.
