Margaret E. Milliern's Obituary
Born Margaret Day, on 12/24/1932, to Francis & Vincent Day, in the historic ocean side city of Astoria, Oregon, She was number 4 of 11 children. Was taken to her heavenly home on Oct. 23, 2023, at the age of 90, after a long battle with Dementia & Alzheimer's disease. She was loved and will be missed dearly.
Raised in Hammond Oregon. Attended Hammond grade school. Loved school, freedom! Great speller & reader, enjoyed spelling B's, in the 6th grade she would win over 8th graders. Warrington high school, Business school Kapps in Tacoma WA, TCC Tacoma WA. She often commented that the "School of Common Sense" strongly influenced her lifestyle.
Met Calvin Harold Dobbins at his mother's home, mom was her paper girl. Married October 2, 1948 Astoria OR, Had 3 lovely children, Ernest Harold, Belinda Ellen, Brenda Joy.
In 1967 welcomed 2 little girls, Tina Marie 2 yrs. & Tami Glod 4 yrs., who did not speak English, (French Canadian) interesting. Mom raised and loved them as if they were her own. They grew to call her mom.
Married her love, Robert Milliern December 7th 1973, papa chose the date, mom smiles, easy for him to remember (it's his birthday) ha-ha. They were quite the pair, Papa passed in April 2002.
Strong work ethic: Along her journey she worked at Brown & Haley, Wonder Bread, Nalleys, restaurant manager, car hop at Bushes drive-in, Avon Rep. just to name a few.
Was a certified Nanny, took great pride in tutoring, cared for many children. Mom had a wonderful loving relationship with Regimbal family, Erin, Brian, Brendan & (mother Maria Sullivan) which continued into their adulthood.
Special events: Went on great adventure to England with her sister Pearl. They had a blast.
Went to Disney World with Papa Bob & family attending her youngest granddaughters (Tara's) wedding. Wonderful memories.
Went to New York, visiting Brendan Regimbal, she referred to this wonderful time as her date in NY.
Loved clam digging with family (Papa was a great digger) & camping. Marge was a great cook. Enjoyed word games (Scrabble), board games, reading and gardening, singing & dancing. ROADTRIP!!!
Asked how do you want to be remembered, answered: resilience, kind, loving, sharing, big heart, very giving, good listener and knowledgeable about many things.
She is preceded in death by Calvin Dobbins (ex-husband), Robert Milliern (husband), Ernest Dobbins (son) & 9 brothers and sisters.
Marge is survived by her younger sister Patricia, Daughter Joy (Ben) Horn grandchildren Rochelle (Geoff) Irons great-grandchildren Emma, Sophie, Austin and Cullie. Granddaughter Tara and (Chad) Alexander great-grandchildren Sage & Hunter. Daughter Belinda Smith grandson Kevin & (Roni) Dobbins great-grandchildren Heather & CJ Dobbins. Bonus: Tami (Richard) Cornwell, Tina Marie Inghram. June Carter, Jason Carter & family (papa's grandson) many more.
We would like to thank the wonderful staff at Bethany Adult Family Home, who took great care of Margaret the last four years of her life.
