Margaret McCulloch Myles' Obituary
Margaret M. Myles passed away Sept. 18, 2009 in Tacoma, WA. Margaret was born in Hamilton, Ontario, July 1st 1913. She was a professor of voice at the University of Puget Sound from 1945-1978. For decades she sang the Messiah at the Puget Sound Field House. She was also a soloist at Plymouth Congregational Church in Seattle, First Congregational Church in Tacoma, Director of Music at Temple Beth El, First Presbyterian Church in Tacoma. She sang the national anthem for President Kennedy at Cheney Stadium, and also sang for General Douglas MacArthur and General Dwight D. Eisenhower. She was a member of MU PHI EPSILON. She is survived by her nieces, Peggy (John) Huson of Belfair, Susan Helseth of Lakewood, and Sally Ormsby of Steilacoom. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 Oct. 1, 2009 at First Presbyterian Church, 20 Tacoma Ave. S. Memorial donations can be made to Hospice.
