Margaret Elnora Mandrell's Obituary
Margaret was born in Longview, WA to Leo Henry (1891–1946) and Doris Elnora Clement (1902–1995).
The family moved to Tacoma, where she attended Central Elementary School, Jason Lee Jr. High, Stadium High School, and Cosmetology School to become a hairdresser. Her favorite subject was math, and she did the books for the beauty salon she shared with a friend.
While living at the YWCA in Tacoma, Margaret volunteered at the U.S.O., a nonprofit organization that provides programs, services, and entertainment to U.S. service members. That’s where she met Charles Edward Mandrell, who was serving in the military at the time.
They were married at the First Baptist Church on 9th Street in Tacoma in 1952.
She was a devoted and loving mother to her daughters, Marlene Mandrell (1960–1979) and Charlotte Mandrell (1962–present).
When her youngest daughter graduated high school, Margaret and Charlotte traveled the world together. They visited Greece, Germany, Paris, and many other destinations, creating lifelong memories. After retiring, Margaret and Charles explored the United States, living full time in a motorhome. They enjoyed golfing and scuba diving, but fishing was always Margaret’s greatest passion. She grew up fishing with her parents and carried that love throughout her life. In later years, she especially enjoyed fishing off the coast of Florida and relaxing with her favorite fishing shows.
After Charles passed away, Margaret moved to Graham, Washington with her daughter where many years later she peacefully passed at home.
She was preceded in death by her father, daughter, mother, husband, and sister.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, grandson, and his wife.
