Margaret Ann Hoyer's Obituary
Margaret Ann (Bales) Hoyer, beloved wife, mother, sister, auntie and friend, died January 19, 2023, surrounded by her family. Margaret was born on April 10, 1952 in Seattle, Washington to Dorothy and Enos Bales. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, earned her BA from Pacific Lutheran University, and her MBA from the University of Phoenix, and worked for many years for the Washington State Department of Corrections. She was very involved with Mary Bridge Festival of Trees, volunteered as a baby rocker for Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital, and was an active member of St. Luke’s Memorial Episcopal Church. Margaret loved family gatherings, entertaining, traveling, reading, the sunshine, her many friends, her Bella Roza, ballet performances, and golfing. Margaret was predeceased by her parents, her father and mother in-law Louis and Merle Hoyer, and her sister in-law Sharyn Bales. She is survived by her loving husband Peter Hoyer and son Nathan and Meghan Hoyer, brother Joe and Joanne Bales, and sisters Susan and Timothy Giesa, and Nann and Steve Werner; her sister in-laws Mary and Frank Holmquist, and Susan Hoyer, her nieces and nephews Cory Bales, Randy and Carmen Bales, Aimee Giesa, Ashley Giesa and Taylor Parrish, Alexandra and Paul Marquard, Steven and Trish Werner; and her great nieces and nephews Madison, Alyson, Macson, Nash, Austin, Lily, Ari, Isaac, Rylan, and Lando whom she loved and cherished. Her family celebrates this strong, thoughtful, kind and loving woman whom we will miss dearly, but our memories of her will forever live in our hearts. Private inurnment with a family celebration is planned. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Chitaley and the oncology team at MultiCare in Tacoma for their great care of Margaret the past 6 years. Memorials may be made to St. Luke’s Memorial Episcopal Church, Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital, or to a favorite charity.
