Margaret Marion Armitage's Obituary
Margaret Marion Armitage, our Mother, our Oma, our Gr’Oma, passed from this world and into Heaven; into the arms of God and her loving husband, Adelbert Kenneth (A.K.) Armitage, on November 11, 2016. Maggie, was born to Angus Ewen and Joan (pronounced Jo-Ann) McLeod on November 25, 1924. Maggie and her brother Don were raised in Tacoma, Washington. She graduated from Stadium High School in 1941.
Maggie worked as a sales clerk at the Base Exchange at the Ephrata Army Air Base, Ephrata, Washington, where she met A.K., the love of her life. On February 2, 1944, Maggie and A.K., eloped to Pueblo, Colorado and married on a romantic wintry day. Maggie and A.K., a 30-year Air Force serviceman and World War II veteran, toured the world while raising their five children. Their travels took them through French Morocco, the Azores, England, Illinois, Colorado, Massachusetts and then finally back to Tacoma, Washington. Maggie began to work for the US government through the personnel office at McChord Air Force Base then at Camp Murray where she retired in 1989. Sadly, A.K. passed away on August 6, 1977 but her love for him never wavered. Maggie is preceded in death by her parents and brother.
Maggie is survived by and will be dearly missed every day by her sons, daughters and their spouses; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nephew and niece. We will miss her laugh; we will miss her love and we will miss the way she brightened our day.
We are so happy that you and Papa are together at last.
All our love,
