Marcus Harpes' Obituary
Our beloved Marcus Harpes was born on September 9, 1961 along with his late twin Marvin Harpes in Tacoma, Washington. His parents were Marie Harpes (deceased) and Harry May (deceased). He was the 9th of nine children. As a young child, he attended Pentecostal Church in Tacoma, Washington. He graduated from Bethel High School and Tacoma Community College in Business Administration in Tacoma, WA.
Marcus was a master heavy equipment operator employed with Teamsters Union, Trident Seafoods, Operating Engineers Local 302 (WA), 612 (WA), 03 (CA) and 701 (OR).
Marcus had a passion for being around nature especially water. He enjoyed fishing both recreationally and commercially. Marcus loved being with family and especially enjoyed barbecuing for family gatherings. In his leisure time, he enjoyed music and tried to dance. His smile was charismatic, and he always had one. His laughter was distinctive and contagious.
Marcus Harpes was a loving father and cherished his two children Marcus Jarrell Harpes (deceased) and Eboni Mar Harpes. He is survived by sisters: Haneefa Mahmood (Seattle), Freda May (Tacoma), Gwedolyn Wyatt (Tacoma), and brother-in-law Lazarus Wyatt (Tacoma). He is preceded by his siblings: Brenda Tett, Doris May, Cynthia Jones, Cornelius May, and Marvin Harpes. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, many cousins and friends whom he loved and adored as well.
Marcus was called home on Friday, November 10, 2017 and will be laid to rest with his son, Marcus Jarrell.
