My best memories of Marcia are during parts of 2 summers spent at Pinedale Farms in our teens (about 16 and 17). Even though Marcia and I were just 2 weeks apart, she was a year ahead of me in school. I grew up in Burlingame, Ca with 3 sisters; we didn't see our Washington cousins a lot. During the summers I did spend with Uncle Dale (my dad's younger brother), Marcia's regular chore was cleaning eggs; naturally I helped her with this chore. We were in a small room and at the end of the line for the eggs. Marcia did the candling and I did the brushing with a block wrapped in sandpaper. We spent the time singing, talking and laughing to help pass what was a pretty boring job.
The year after I graduated we start our Freshman year at WSC. We lived at Regenge Hall, an L-shaped building with 4 floors--me on the 4th floor in the front and Marcia on 1st floor on the side. Though we were in different classes and made different friends, we met most days at the CUB to drink a cherry coke with lots of ice (Marcia introduced me to this drink).
My sister Mary Lee joined us one summer at Pinedale and joined us at WSC/WSU a year later. She texted me after Marcia's death. She lived on 3rd floor Regence just above Marcia so they had their fun times together, too. Recently she was sorting through some stored items and Marcia came to her thoughts "Oh, Marcia how did we ever get this shopping gene or just a lack of a gene?" "then the eggs and WSC/WSU, and Steve's wild driving at Thanksgiving Break and their Farm.....".
Mary Lee and I send our thought and prayers to Alisa and Marcia's brothers and all who knew and loved her.
Love, Sheila (Smith) Bujacich
