Marcella (Sally) Dean's Obituary
Our beloved mother and grandmother passed away September 18, 2003 after a courageous battle with cancer. Her warmth and generosity mixed with her humor and wonderful spirit in life will be remembered by many who knew and loved her.Sally was born in Storden, Minnesota on June 17, 1915. Her parents, Andrew and Anna Nelson, had a large family consisting of 5 boys and 5 girls. In 1918 her father decided to take up farming in Killam, Alberta, Canada where she then lived the life of a country girl till the age of 21. In 1936 she moved to Aberdeen, Washington where other siblings had settled. Sally and William Dean met in 1941 and were married in 1942. That union led to a military life of living in many places before settling down in the Lakewood area where she lived for the last 43 years.Sally was preceded in death by her Â"Sailor BoyÂ" and love of her life, husband, William E. Dean, Sr., Cmdr., U.S. Navy, Ret. in 1996. She is survived by one son, William E. Dean, Jr., and three daughters, Sharon (Ken) Miller, Susan Hooker, Jody (Mike) Herrick, seven grandchildren and, seven great-grandchildren.Our family wishes to thank the wonderful doctors and staff at Madigan Hospital, and the Franciscan Hospice for the care and support they provided Mom in her time of need. Services will be held Saturday, September 27, 2003 at 2:00 pm in the Mountain View Garden Chapel, a reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Franciscan Hospice.
