Manfred Reiner Wenz's Obituary
Manfred “Fred” Wenz, 89, of Steilacoom, Washington, passed away on October 31st, 2025.
Fred was born on August 14th,1936 in Frankfurt, Germany. He immigrated to the United States in 1956 and built a beautiful life with his daughter and wife in Lakewood, Washington. He worked for the Department of Transportation but was a boiler maker by trade in Germany. He was a hard worker, and his tenacious, strong, and steadfast personality allowed him to continue to work after his stroke at age 29 and he continued to provide for his family despite this adversity.
Fred married the love of his life, Renate, who he shared 59 beautiful years of marriage with. Together, they raised their daughter, Cornelia “Conny”. He found joys in the simple pleasures of life such as camping throughout the pacific northwest with his wife, daughter, and grandchildren in their camper trailer; watching soccer matches; and enjoying sweets (especially chocolate and plum cake).
He was preceded in death by his wife Renate, his daughter Cornelia "Conny", and his three sisters. Fred was survived by his son-in-law Jon, his grandchildren Ian (Esme) and Hilarie (Joey), and his great-grandchildren.
He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his stubborn streak, his spontaneous remarks, and above all the deep love he had for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be eternally loved and missed, but we find solace in knowing he is at rest with his wife, daughter, sisters, and parents.
