Mancel Harry Scott's Obituary
Mancel Harry Scott (Scotty) was born in Quaker City, Ohio on September 15, 1921. The family moved to Lincoln Park, Michigan in 1928. Scotty graduated from Lincoln Park High School in 1938. He joined the United States Marines Corps in December 1941 and served four years on active duty in the South Seas and Guadalcanal in 1942-43. When stationed at MCAS El Toro, California, he met Marine Cpl. Kathleen (Kay) Lakowske of Tacoma, Washington. They married in August 25, 1945.After discharge, they moved to Lincoln Park, and Scotty attended The Detroit Institute of Technology, School of Pharmacy. In 1952 they moved to Tacoma where he worked as a pharmacist until his retirement in 1986.Scotty loved baseball, as a player, as a coach of his daughtersÂ' softball teams and as a fan of the Tacoma Rainiers. He also enjoyed his annual backpacking trips in the mountains of Washington and British Columbia. After retirement he volunteered at The Tacoma Nature Center at Snake Lake.He is survived by his wife, Kathleen, three daughters, Diane Lakowske-Scott of Reno, NV, Karen Scott of Aberdeen, Washington and Debra Bliss (Edward) of Ellensburg, Washington. Six grandchildren, David Bliss, Major Jake Bailey, USMC (Jennie Lindsey Andersen (Ryan), Mancella West (Noel), Robert Bailey and NC1 Sarah Bailey, USN. Also, three great grand daughters, Debra, Mikel and Shannon. At his request there will be no services.
