Maluolefale Hunkin Salave'a's Obituary
On April 21, 2020, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Maluolefale Afoa Faiivae Hunkin Salave’a, born July 4, 1932, in Fagatogo, American Samoa. She passed away peacefully of natural causes at age 87. Daughter of Tuiloma Siaosi Faiivae Hunkin and Faanenefu Falefatu “Nifty” Afoa Lutu Faiivae Hunkin, who have preceded her in death. She was a long-time resident of Leone, American Samoa. Maluolefale Hunkin Salave’a is survived by her brothers Maiava Oliva Hunkin and Tolupauga Siaosi Hunkin. Our mother is also survived by her 15 children, 61 grandchildren, 95 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, sons-in-law, and many nieces and nephews who will all continue to love and miss her dearly. Mom truly enjoyed music by playing the piano, singing and dancing. She loved and enjoyed spending quality time with her grand kids. Some of her favorite songs: Are You Sincere, Sincerely, Once In Awhile, I'm in the mood for love, Penny's from Heaven and many more. Mom, your memory will continue to live within each of our hearts. Mom retired from the Government of American Samoa after working at the Department of Communications for over 20+ years. She was an active member of the Catholic Church, Holy Cross Parish of Leone. Mom participated in organizing several community functions for the village of Leone Women’s council. She was very active within the Samoan Community. She will be missed by many families, extended families and friends whose lives
were enriched by her love and kindness. We, her family will miss her beautiful smile and laughter, the selfless things she did for her children and families that often go unnoticed. Our hearts are broken and our spirit mourns. All we know mom is that - “God’s grace is sufficient, and there is comfort knowing that you are with Him in Heaven”. We miss you so dearly.
