Mac McTernen and I became friends in 2000 while working at Labor Ready HQ. We both had recently exited the Army and were starting our new lives as civilians. From the very beginning we were thick as thieves. So much so, he called me in Georgia to tell me the news of his first child. He was so proud! In 2003 our friendship suffered its first roadblock. I won't go into detail, but I will say that we both played a role in it. Thankfully, we reconnected a few years later and it was like nothing had changed.
Through the years, I was a groomsman at his wedding to Sarah. I witnessed him become a step-father and welcome two more children into the world. He achieved his dream of working at Microsoft and was the happiest I've ever seen him. He was my best man when I renewed my wedding vows almost 15 years ago. We celebrated birthdays, holidays, vacationed together, attended Shot Show on multiple occasions and concerts like Metallica, Guns N' Roses, Ozzy, Mötley Crüe, Roger Waters and a few others.
To say Mac was my friend would be an understatement. Mac was my brother from another mother. He was someone I could talk to about anything. He was my best male friend in the world and I'll forever be grateful for the time we spent together. The good, bad and ugly.
Sheila and I offer our deepest condolences to Mac’s family and to his many friends.
